Owner Bio

Erin Girzone is the owner and operator of Good Health is a HabitTM. She is an ACE certified personal trainer and AFPA certified nutrition and wellness consultant. She also holds a B.S. in Biochemistry and M.Ed., both from the University of New Hampshire.

“I have always had a passion for being active and challenging myself physically. I feel the most ‘alive’ when I am doing something active-whether it be hiking, running, swimming, strength training, etc. Every cell in my body is focused on what I am doing, on the moment, on achieving my goal. It is invigorating. Being active propels me through the rest of the day with a positive attitude. For these reasons, I have been drawn to the field of health and fitness, and I want to share this passion with others.

In today’s society, being active is something we feel we have to fit into our routine. It doesn’t come naturally for a lot of us because we aren’t required to be active. Most people no longer expend energy and build strength foraging for food, hunting or chopping wood on a daily basis. We are fortunate to have a high standard of living, but because of that many of us need to make a conscience effort to MOVE.

While we battle to stay active, we also must battle to fuel our bodies properly. Having a healthy diet is even more challenging because there is a lot of misleading information out there. Over the last few years my own interest in my diet has forced me to think critically about this information and figure out the truth. My biochemistry background, constant researching and experimenting and my certification in nutrition consulting has helped me develop a clear understanding of what our diet is all about. We need to reintroduce ourselves to our diet-start a new relationship with it. Food should be our friend. We need it not only to survive, but it is also a powerful tool against disease and it can make us stronger athletes.

Now here is the ultimate challenge. Think of how many people you know, including yourself, who have tried and failed at maintaining a solid workout routine and/or healthy diet? Everyone! We want some sort of easy, quick, magical answer to solve this dilemma, but there isn’t one.

I have summed up the truth in this motto: ‘Good health is a habit.’

Recognize that you will only have success being active and eating well if you adopt long-lasting, healthy habits. Commit to yourself.
